DV Safe Phone Help
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
DV Safe Phone collects, repurposes and gifts mobile phones to victims of domestic violence (DV) through registered charities, safe houses and authorities serving this vulnerable community. Our Safe Phones are then provided as part of an individual's 'safety' or 'escape' plan' offering a lifeline to call for help when it is needed most.

We are an established not for profit organisation, based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, working in partnership with law enforcement authorities and a range of registered charities and service providers Australia wide, who provide front line support for vulnerable communities.

YOU too can play a vital role in helping victims of domestic violence, by either gifting your old working mobile phone, or helping raise vital funds to further our work. With increasing urgency arising from continued COVID-19 lockdowns and widespread natural disasters - we really need your help!
Our Story

Community Partnerships in Action, Scaling Support for Victims of Domestic Violence.

One of Young’s most highly regarded community service organisations, the Rotary Club of Young, has joined forces with DV Safe Phone to help local victims of domestic violence (DV) in need.

CEO and Founder of DV Safe Phone, Ashton Wood, this week gratefully accepted a partnership offer from the club to help grow and manage local community support for its national phone and fundraising campaign.
Rotary Club of Young’s President, Hank Doll said “We are really pleased to be establishing a partnership with DV Safe Phone by supporting their drive for phones and funds.

“More and more we are hearing of the devastating impact of domestic violence within our community. So we are pleased to be able to empower our local community, to offer practical support to victims in need by raising awareness, phones and funds in support of the vital work that DV Safe Phone is doing.” said Mr Doll.

Rotary International has a long history of bringing together business and professional leaders to help solve some of the world’s most complex and pressing problems. Rotary Club of Young is no exception, with over 80 years of service to Young and the surrounding district, our members are committed to supporting the local community and youth development.

Hank went on to say, “Our members know and understand the importance of uniting together to tackle complex community challenges, such as we are now facing with domestic and family violence.”

The local Rotary Club is one of dozens of Clubs around Australia who have joined forces with Australian charity DV Safe Phone, helping to break down barriers for victims to access life saving support.

“This partnership is an extension of DV Safe Phone’s growing collaboration with Rotary Clubs across Australia, who are helping raise awareness, phones and funds to ensure a steady supply of phones are received for testing, repurposing and gifting to victims of domestic violence in need.” said Ashton
Phones received from community phone drop locations managed by the Rotary Club of Young will be sent to DV Safe Phone head office in Queensland.
Here they will be tested, reset and repurposed as’ safe phones’ to be gifted back to the community, through registered front line agencies offering domestic violence crisis care and support.

Ashton further explains the importance of this partnership, “Another priority area that Rotary Club of Young is helping with, is connecting our team to local frontline service providers, charities and law enforcement agencies, who are willing to become part of our national network of registered DV Safe Phone distributors across Australia.

“These agencies have trained professionals who can help not only deliver safe phones along with a ‘safe’ or ‘escape’ plan, but may also offer additional support services tailored to an individual's needs.”

The flow on impacts of COVID-19 and recent natural disasters, such as the relentless and widespread flooding in NSW, are placing increased pressures on families and friends - as the full socio-economic impacts of these events are felt at home. All sadly known to be ingredients for increased episodes of domestic violence in the home.

“DV Safe Phone is offering us all the opportunity to be part of a community-driven solution that strengthens existing support services available to those seeking to escape a life sentence of domestic abuse. By providing those in need with a phone free from watchful eyes to seek life saving support.”
“This amazing support from the Rotary Club of Young comes at a critical time for our charity as we ramp up to our ‘One Phone, One Life’ campaign which is scheduled to kick off on October 1 as part of Sexual Violence Awareness Month here in Queensland”
“Thanks to the Rotary Club of Young we can now invite businesses, schools and the wider community of Young to get behind this great initiative.

Engaging with the ‘One Phone, One Life’ campaign, helps normalise a conversation around domestic, family and sexual violence, in a purposeful and interactive way. It also creates awareness and connection for those in need to support services available in their area.

DV Safe Phone is calling on individuals, businesses and community groups to donate PHONES and FUNDS to help support victims of domestic, family and sexual violence in need.

Remember, ONE Phone + $15 = 1 LIFE supported with a safe phone and phone credit . So, the more phones and funds YOU help raise, the more lives we can support together!”
